Grandson Soul | Why I Love Music – A Hip-Soul Journey of Heartbeats & Harmony

ree

A Mother’s Song

My earliest lullabies weren’t on the radio; they floated from my mom’s voice while she swayed in the kitchen. Whenever she sang, the room felt warmer and I felt seen. That simple act of melody equals love still shapes every note I play today.

The Pulse of the Human Experience

Listen to any crowd—at a wedding, a protest, a tailgate—and you’ll hear feet tapping in accidental unison. That shared beat reminds me we’re all wired to respond to sound. My Hip-Soul-Country-Jazz-Metal fusion exists to amplify that pulse and give it new colour.

Science Meets Soul

Neuroscientists say music triggers dopamine. Cool fact—but the real magic is what dopamine does when it collides with memory. One bar of James Brown and I’m dancing in my parents’ living room; a George Strait chorus and I’m cruising dirt roads under prairie stars. Music is time travel that fits in your back pocket.

A Soundtrack for Every Chapter

My vinyl shelf looks like a genre potluck: Elvis to Eminem, Tanya Tucker to Tupac, Bill Withers to Miss May I. Each record became a chapter heading in my life story—heartbreak, hustle, rebellion, redemption. Today I blend those flavours so listeners can taste their own chapters too.

Chemistry on Stage

In Blacktop Recess—my first metal band—I felt four musicians become one heartbeat. That alchemy still gives me chills. Whether it’s a packed club or an unplugged couch set, I chase that same electricity: strings vibrating, amps humming, eyes closing in the front row because they feel it too.

Love Songs Without the Cliché

I don’t write candlelit ballads; I write joy songs—the spark when two souls recognise each other across a crowded room. Love, for me, is movement: fingers sliding on frets, hips swaying in 6/8. Every track is an invitation to fall in love with living, even for three minutes.

Healing in Three Chords (and the Truth)

We’ve all aired out heartbreak through a car stereo at 2 a.m. That catharsis is why I keep creating. If a riff can lift the weight off a stranger’s chest—even briefly—then the studio hours, late-night gigs, and blistered fingertips are worth it.

Constant Evolution

From that first G-chord to my current Hip-Soul fusion experiments, music keeps me curious. One day I’m layering jazz chords over trap hi-hats; the next I’m distorting a country lick into a metal breakdown. Love of music is love of change—and I plan to stay restless.

Community & Connection

Streams and stats are cool, but nothing beats a message that reads, “Your song got me through chemo,” or “We played your track at our wedding.” Music shrinks the planet to two sets of headphones and a shared feeling. That’s why I’ll never stop.

The Mission Moving Forward

My goal isn’t platinum plaques; it’s pulses quickening. I want each release to soundtrack road trips, gym sessions, first kisses, and last dances. If you landed here searching why I love music, welcome—let’s keep turning life into lyrics together.
